Motorsport Park 1990 v2

Glen Leugner ha rilasciato per Grand Prix Legends la versione aggiornata e finale del tracciato canadese di Motorsport nella configurazione del 1990. L'accuratezza nella realizzazione ne fa un download obbligatorio per ogni appassionato della mitica simulazione dei Papy.

Di seguito trovate tutte le novità di questa release.

Westwood Motorsport Park 1990

Due to additional reference material I decided to improve the accuracy of my westwd90 track. In order to avoid confusion this completely revised track version will be known as west1990.

The track directory is "west1990" so it will not affect you if you have installed "westwd90" or Strava's "westwood" track. I would suggest that you remove "westwd90" as it is an inferior version.

Westwood Motorsport Park 1990 was created by "Mytrack", (Glen Leugner).

It represents the Westwood Motorsport Park (Coquitlam, B.C., Canada) as it was in 1989 - 1990 with a distinct feature being the new pit entry lane that I beleive was added in 1988. The track was built in 1959 and is 8.0m wide and 1.80 miles in length. I think it is best suited to the 1965 cars although the race.lp for this release was created using the new '69 Mod cars part 3 final.

Carousel corner is banked up to 15 degrees at the apex while the clubhouse and hairpin corners have a 2 degree camber. There are no other cambered corners on the real track I could decern from photos.

Good passing is designed for the inside corners of carousel and clubhouse and the right hand side of the back-straight and inside of marshall's hairpin. The racing is close as this is a narrow circuit but I think I have the AI behaviour set well enough to stay on the track. Thanks to "Strava" for his AIGen utility.

Thanks to "Crusader" for providing a 1985 video lap of the Westwood Circuit and for the elevation maps (circa 1961) of half of the track.

Also thanks to "Strava" for the use of his "westwood tower 3do" which was used as the starting point for mine and to "Scotty" for his horizons which I reworked for my needs.

And finally, thanks to the authors of the many track creating tools.

*** Improvements from westwd90 to west1990 include: ***

1.) GTK:
- minor wall changes.
- adjusted many grass and banking wall unk4 values so textures are more logically mapped using the same main textures.

2.) Elevation:
- reduced incline steepness from end of esses to front straight.
- adjusted terrain off track around esses to beginning of parking lot.
- corrected mismatched elevations at treeline on the inside corner of clubhouse.
- adjusted height of elevations at inside corner of clubhouse.
- adjusted terrain around turn 3 so that it slopes away from track on both sides as per real track.
- added 2 degree camber to Marshall's hairpin corner.

3.) 3do's:
- revised hairpin.3do to match new elevation at esses.
- changed 12 polygon tree 3do's to SRB's and made them larger.
- revised placement of trees at clubhouse corner in order to be able to fit original clubhouse building in my future west1967 track.
- added new flagbox at deer's leap.
- added player's racing billbaord at deer's leap.
- made minor changes to all grandstands.
- added 2 new tents (yellow & white) on bluff overlooking esses.
- added 1 new large tent (blue & white) to parking lot.
- added 4 new RV motorhomes to parking lot and around track.
- revised concession stand building and removed interior detail.
- completely revised westwood tower with much more accurate dimensions, building features, and staircase design. Removed interior tower detail and also adjusted track placement.
- revised utility shed and placement.
- revised utility pole for new mip textures.

4.) Mip Textures:
- revised all player's racing billboard textures with gold trim on logo etc.
- revised starters' box player's texture placement due to new info.
- completely revised textures for westwood tower including cinderblock foundation.
- new utility pole seamless texture.
- revised ProFormance billboards.
- revised textures for concession stand.
- new textures for RV motorhomes.
- new textures for tents.
- new textures for flagbox at deer's leap
- new texture for gravel around track.
- new textures for grandstand railing.
- converted tree mips into single srb's.
- revised pbf files of event, page0, and page1 from BAPOM program set #449.

5.) FB draw distance values:
- completely revised the fb file to eliminate all pop-ups during driving and replay using new understanding of the 3rd and 4th values.

6.) AI files:
- new AI files made from revised track lap using '69 mod part III final version release.
- used Strava's GPL AIGen program using the following parameters for an 8.0m wide track and 0.6m wide curb (assumes a 2.4m wide car).
